Horse-riding, quad racing, a swimming pool, and roller-skating are available locally. Hiking and cycling are very popular in the area. Sketching, painting and photography are ideal in these beautiful mountains. Whale watching trips are available from Genova. Swimming (and snorkeling) is possible in a secluded lake formed by the river Erro, five minutes by car from the estate. Distances: Savona 30km, Genova airport (Ryanair) 65 km. Acqui Terme (Spa) 26km. The French Riviera, Monaco, Nice etc can be reached by a spectacular two and a half hour train journey from Albisola. Cinque Terre, Portofino and other Ligurian seaside resorts are also easily accessible by car or by train. Special features The properties incorporate several environmental features. Nothing at all is discarded from within the estate, everything is re-used. Eagles, pheasants, deer, wild boar, foxes and other animals roam free in the estate. Hunting permissible (must observe local laws).
Activities include working on the estate's vineyards, wine making, scrambling and climbing, wildlife walks, and ATVs. Food, fruits and produce:
Grapes, wine Blackberries, raspberries, other berries Cherries
Apples Olives Chestnuts, hazelnuts, almonds Wild mushrooms
NB: Swimming Pool
We are proud to boast that we don't have a swimming pool. Swimming pools are environmentally unfriendly and can be seen as an insult by local farmers, many of whom don't have enough water to irrigate their fields. Also, most holiday-size swimming pools are too small to ensure any good quality swimming as a form of exercise. If you don't feel like driving 30 minutes for a swim in the Italian Riviera (where, we can almost guarantee, you will be the only British tourist), perhaps you would consider driving for five minutes for a swim in a secluded lake near the property. For those who like water but really don't want to leave the estate, we have several ponds and natural pools where you can cool down in the summer (be careful, as wild boar and deer may have the same idea!)
